What is anti- slip?
Anti-Slip ratings for tiles are determined by the Oil Wet Ramp Test. The test is conducted by a person walking on an oiled surface wearing cleated safety boots while being held by a harness. The angle of the ramp is adjusted until the individual slips, generating the R-Value.
The R value ranges from 9 to 13, which can be summarized below
R9 tiles indicates that the surface of the tile is matte and relatively smooth. The tile is suitable for dry areas such as the living room and bedrooms.
R10 tiles are a good fit where occasional spills and wetness can occur. Tiles of such ratings are ideal for bathroom and kitchen, corridors, etc.
R11 tiles are considered to be secure for both dry and wet environments, which makes them perfect for use in home environments varying from damper areas such as bathrooms and kitchens, pool wall to commercial places like hallways, medium-sized restaurant kitchen…
R12 tiles is generally regarded as safe for installation in areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and hallways, as well as commercial areas of various sizes, from communal showers and lavatories, pool sides and changing rooms to hotel foyers, shopping centres and airports, parking spaces.
R13 tiles is usually recommended for areas which are exposed to water for the majority of time, such as patios, swimming pools and surrounding areas, SPAs and saunas, as well as kitchens in some cases.
